If you've read my last blog post, then you'll know that we visited Krakow with the intention of just using it as a base to visit Auschwitz, and I said I would make a separate post for that trip, well, here it is.
I'm not going to talk too much about it, as I wouldn't like to ruin it for anyone who plans on visiting, so I'll just skim over some information, and post some pictures.
If you aren't sure about what Auschwitz is, and it's relevance, then Auschwitz was a network of German Nazi concentration and extermination camps which were built and operated by the Third Reich in Polish areas that had been taken over by Nazi Germany during World War II.
The two main camps were Auschwitz I which was the original camp, and Auschwitz II-Birkenau which was a combination of a concentration/extermination camp, where at least 1.1 million people died.
I can't even fully explain how I felt there, it was harrowing, there were some very tough moments for both of us when we were getting a guided tour round the two camps,
If you are ever in the area, I recommend a visit, but please prepare yourself.
