hanon x Diadora B.Elite '83 Final - In-Store Launch

The launch of HANON'S second collaboration with Diadora on the Borg Elite was upon us, and again, it paid tribute to Aberdeen FC and the success of their 1983 team. For all the info you need about the collaboration, be sure to click here, and if you want to check out the first release, then you can find that here.

On a cold Saturday morning in February, plenty people had turned out for the in-store release, all hoping to be able to grab a pair of the second instalment of the "Spirit of '83" series.

Not many pictures sadly, but you get the idea. Thanks to all who made it down to the release!

hanon x Diadora B.Elite '83 Final

It feels super weird not doing blog posts for the HANON collaborations after I've been sent the press release by them, instead, I'm part of creating the press release and site takeover which you can check here. However, my colleague still makes sure he sends me the press release to my personal email, a little bit of nostalgia there.

Anyway, hanon x Diadora B.Elite '83 Final - The Spirit of '83, let's get stuck into it!

DSC_5590

So you'll remember the red pair which released back in October (refresh your memory here if you forgot), well, this is the second colourway, and has been dubbed the "'83 Final" colourway.

I'll get to the blurb a bit later, but with regards to the shots of the shoe, I wanted to try and avoid the whole Pittodrie setting (Aberdeen FC's home ground), but still have it loosely related to football. I think this colourway will be a lot more attractive to a wider audience in comparison to the first colourway, so I didn't want to have football and Aberdeen FC as the main focus when shooting.

DSC_5725

But now for the juicy details!

The Spirit of '83 is a tribute to Aberdeen Football Club and it's finest moment in 1983. On a rainy night in Sweden a group of eleven Scottish players won the European Cup Winners Cup led by then, upcoming manager Alex Ferguson. Overcoming Bayern Munich en route to the final in Gothenburg, the team saw off Spanish giants Real Madrid to secure the club's first ever european trophy.

DSC_5686

The original idea for the collaboration was to produce a pack of two shoes. One to pay tribute to Aberdeen Football Club and its official team colours, and a 'Friends and family' edition that drew inspiration from the rainy night of the Final.

Our sequel edition follows the same luxurious material treatment of the 1st release and utilises Diadora's superior production. Handcrafted in Italy at their original factory in the small town of Caerano Di San Marco, the B.Elite Final takes inspiration from the rain soaked night in Gothenburg and is executed in a thunder grey colour-way with red and white accents.

DSC_5681

DSC_5666

Finished in a plush kangaroo leather upper with buttersoft suede overlays, the B.Elite Final mirrors the first edition of 2015 and is specced to the max. Attention to detail includes a laminated kangaroo leather tongue, double layered stitched leather insole and plush pin stripe collar lining. Dual branding features throughout- embossed and printed on each back tab and tongue, whilst our Keeps on Burning fire emblem and '83' are embroidered on opposing heels.

The hanon x Diadora Spirit Of '83 B.Elite Final will be released in limited numbers exclusively at hanon on Saturday February 20th, 2016. Each pair will come with a special edition customised 83 box dust bag and dual lace set.

Now that we've got that out of the way, please enjoy some more images of the shoe, and I'll see whoever makes it down to hanon on the 20th, until then!

hanon shop x Brooks Chariot 'Scotch Bonnet'

Photo 30-01-2015 13 30 28

It's 2015, a new year, and already the collaborations are coming thick and fast, and back with a bang are the good people of hanon shop who have linked up with US running brand Brooks on their Chariot running shoe to produce the 'Scotch Bonnet'.

You might only be familiar with Brooks if you're a little bit older, or if you have used any of their performance running shoes, however, the Chariot, a shoe first launched in 1982 and designed as a technical runner seems to be coming back strong.

The Chariot was designed with a premium upper of suedes, nylon and performance mesh, but it wasn't shy on the performance front, as it was built for stability with cushioning in mind. The shoe incorporates a 3 part EVA sole unit with Brooks' diagonal roll bar system (DRB), which is a technology that has been designed to withstand the rigour of continuous training.

hanon shop have became renowned for their love of their Scottish roots and continually try to let this filter through to their collaborative efforts, and this particular pair pays homage their hometown of Aberdeen, and also the 'Scotch Bonnet' chilli - named after the iconic Tam O' Shanter hat.

Aberdeen is nicknamed the 'Granite City', and to reflect the granite grey of Aberdeen, the shoe is specced up and executed in super rich pig suede, whilst fiery red accents appear by the way of the contrasting tongue and toe overlay. A rich green glove leather collar lining completes the shoe.

I say it time and time again, but hanon shop are one for their details, and this time attention of detail appears in the way of granite flecks on the side stripe and heel counter, a dual branded woven tongue label and footbed, a switched out vamp from mesh to a sunburst perforated suede and of course, a full 3M reflective backtab.  But that's not all, as has been so prevalent on hanon shop collabs of late, they have their flame logo embossed on each heel.

The hanon x Brooks Chariot 'Scotch Bonnet' is released on Saturday 7th February 2015, and each pair will come complete with 3 contrasting sets of laces, a custom made dust bag and bespoke tissue paper.

New Balance Autumn/Winter 2014 - Part 2

Following on from a previous post of A/W 2014 Leaks, here are some more unseen pairs via hanon shop which will be available to pre-order from September 1st, and releasing in October sometime. I had already posted a few of the Made in USA pairs on the previous post, but here we get to see them in all their glory with the clean stock pictures, and that 1300 is still looking superb.

Continuing on with the 577 25th Anniversary vibe for this year, NB are dropping more colourways, and that shape somehow seems to be getting better with time, which is always good news.

New Balance 577SGB and 577STK -

577SGB

577STK

Along with the 577, one of my favourite Flimby made models is the 670, but maybe for the last year or so, there haven't really been any eye-catching colourways and the shape has never been close to comparable to some of the pre-2010 stuff. However, these two upcoming colourways get the thumbs up from me.

As well as the above shoes, I was just browsing hanon shop website and realised that they have a few others up for pre-order but don't actually have any pictures of them. The Gentleman's Choice 1500's are there too for £145, 1500GMN and 1500GMB respectively.

Here's the pics via End Clothing:

There'll be some more A/W 14 pairs to drop in the following months so as soon as they hit pre-order, I'll upload a blog post for them. Keep an eye out.

New Balance CT300 x SNS, Firmament, hanon, and 24 Kilates

NB-CT300-Pack-Shot-Flimby_zpseb088c8b

Following on from the previous post, with the launch of the New Balance CT300 pack of collaborations launching this Friday, here are some detailed pictures of the shoes, and also, all the details of where some of the stores took their inspiration when designing the colourways.

New Balance CT300PHA x Hanon Shop 'Phoenix'

2014 marks the 10th anniversary of Hanon Shop's collaboration history with New Balance, and in celebration, they take a step away from their usual running models to work on one of New Balance's first tennis shoes.

CT300videonews_r7_c1 CT300videonews_r9_c1 CT300videonews_r11_c1

These will be available instore at Hanon Shop on the 27th of June from 10am, and available online at 2pm with a RRP of £105.

New Balance CT300 x 24 Kilates 'Vamos A La Playa'

The well known 24 Kilates store is based in Barcelona, Spain, so it's inevitable that some of their inspiration was taken from the stunning beach there, with elements such as the sand, the sea and the sun playing a part in the colourway.

The name 'Vamos A La Playa' is the Spainish translation for 'Let's go to the beach'.

NB-CT300-tour-24-Kilates-01_zpsac3dfe91 NB-CT300-tour-24-Kilates-02_zpsf2b74bb8 NB-CT300-tour-24-Kilates-07_zps5a842848

These shoes will release instore first at 24 Kilates on the 28th of June 2014.

New Balance CT300 x Firmament Berlin 'Pine Sunset'

Berlin based store Firmament may not be a store that many are familiar with, but they have certainly held their own with their take on the New Balance CT300.

01 02 03 04

Firmament will be hosting a special in-store launch event this coming Friday, June 27th from 18:00 - 21:00, and the collection will be available in-store at the launch event, and online that following Saturday, June 28th.

New Balance CT300 x SNS '1999'

Heavy hitters SNS have just recently opened a store in London, but that hasn't slowed down their collaboration efforts. As you may or may not know, SNS have worked with New Balance many times over the years and have created some of the best collaborations to date. Here's a little piece of text taken from the SNS website.

"Yes, we have worked together before, New Balance and Sneakersnstuff. In fact, New Balance was one of the first brands to give us the possibility to do a collaboration. And there has been a few over the years. But this time New Balance gave us a new challenge.

New Balance CT300 was first released in 1979, and the timing of bringing back a Made in UK tennis shoe could not have better. And if New Balance can bring up good things form their history, we figured that so can we.

Longtime supporters of Sneakersnstuff recognize these colors immidiatly. When Erik and Peter open up the store in 1999 we painted the walls grey. White would have been to bright, and we wanted a color that didn't steal the attention from the products. The store was pretty small, so we painted the ceiling white to make the space feel bigger. Then we added a border of burgundy on the top of the walls because... well, because we liked it, and it was our store so we could do anything we wanted.

And as I said, we have worked with New Balance before, so we know that whatever product will come out of the Flimby factory, it will be on point. So we are very excited to present the Sneakersnstuff x New Balance CT300 ”1999”. It drops on June 27th and will be joined by version from our friends over at Hanon, 24 Kilates and Firmament.

Release date: June 27th Sneakersnstuff Stockholm: 12.00 CET Sneakersnstuff Malmö: 12.00 CET Sneakersnstuff London: 10.30 WET Online: 13.00 CET"

NB-CT300-Pack-Shot-Flimby_zpseb088c8b

I think it's fair to say that many of us have been waiting for the Flimby section of New Balance to start working on collaborations with the European 'big hitters', so to speak. Not long ago the 'Danish Weather Pack' was released, where Norse Projects collaborated on two UK made 1500's, but both these shoes were a far cry from their 670 back in 2009.

Anyway, as news broke that New Balance would be collaborating with Sneakersnstuff, Firmament, hanon and 24 Kilates, there was a great deal of anticipation, only for that to maybe be ruined a bit when it was announced that it wouldn't be an ever popular running model, but instead, a tennis shoe.

Phrases like, "these colourways would look great on a 1500.. or a 577", alright, fair enough, but then what's the point in ruining a good colourway by using it on a model that is going to be bulky and banana-like? You have previous 577's and 1500's from SNS and hanon, and putting these colourways onto those models in 2014 would result in a shoe a million miles away from their past efforts.. that's something that I'm sure of.. at least until there is shape changes at Flimby - granted you may not be bothered about the shape.

However, if you're willing to look past the non-runner scenario, then the timing of the New Balance CT300 collaborations is perfect, with the grass court tennis season well underway and Wimbledon starting on the 23rd of June.

The CT300 was first released in 1979, and it was one of the first tennis shoes to be produced by New Balance, and one which offered a great deal of cushioning and durability on court. This classic court shoe is making a big return and all pairs are hand-crafted using only the most premius of materials at the Flimby factory.

Below you can check out a video produced for the release, which visits Aberdeen, Stockholm, Berlin and Barcelona, to talk about the shoes:

Each shoe is set to release at their respective stores on Friday the 27th of June, and then look for a wider release the following week, but these shoes have been produced in limited quantities so don't hesitate!

Keep an eye out for further information with regards to release details in the coming week as the stores get ready for their launch, but we hear the retail price will be around £105-£110.

hanon shop x Diadora N.9000 'Saturday Special' - In-store Release

DSC_0198 DSC_0201

Saturday 31st of May, saw the anticipated release of the Diadora x Hanon Shop N.9000 'Saturday Special', so I headed down to check out the instore release.

With plenty of people queuing from the early hours of the morning, and some even making the journey up from London the previous day, all were eager to get their hands on a pair or two. The first 30 lucky customers would also receive a free t-shirt along with the trainers, if you're into rocking that matching tee and trainers thing.. always a nice touch nonetheless.

DSC_0285

The materials and construction of this shoe really are the talking points, with some of the finest materials, such as a kangaroo leather upper, silky pig and bovine suede, and closed mesh. Not to forget that the whole shoe is hand crafted in Italy!

The colour palette of the shoe is inspired by 80′s trains and buses, the upper features dark marine and burgundy, with red and sky blue accents. On topic of the colourway, I'd liked to have seen this pair release in A/W right enough, rather than S/S, as the maroon/burgundy tips it more into that season.

DSC_0259

As always, the guys at Hanon never fail to impress with the details and seeing the shoe in person provides a much more thorough look – old school multi print on the in sock and tongue backer, with dual branding embroidered on the heel and tongues

DSC_0264

All pairs released both online and instore will come with three sets of laces and an additional dust bag, and then the first 30 customers instore also received a free tee.

The release itself went smoothly, with a few guys from Diadora making the journey across from Italy, and it was good to catch up with old and new in some Aberdeen sun for a change.. Until next time!

Be sure to check out some of the pics below from the release.
